The Basics

Cases | Definite Article | Indefinite Article | Dieser, jeder... | Possessive Adjectives

This sections is mostly to familiarize you with some terms that I will be using in the following such as der words or mein words.
First let me familiarize you with the cases:
Nominative Case - the subject of the sentence
Accusative Case - the direct object of the sentence
Genitive Case - this shows possession or dependence
Dative Case - the indirect object or recipient of the sentence
The definite article (also known as the) has four genders: masculine, feminine, neuter, and plural. These are as follows:
Singular Plural
Masculine Feminine Neuter All Genders
Nominative der die das die
Accusative den die das die
Genitive des der des der
Dative dem der dem den
The indefinite article (also known as a/an) operates the same way:
Singular No Plural
Masculine Feminine Neuter
Nominative ein eine ein --
Accusative einen eine ein --
Genitive eines einer eines --
Dative einem einer einem --
Dieser (this), jeder (each/every), jener (that/yon), mancher (many/many a), solcher (such/such a), welcher (which) also operate the same way as the definite and indefinite articles:
Singular Plural
Masculine Feminine Neuter All Genders
Nominative dieser diese dieses diese
Accusative diesen diese dieses diese
Genitive dieses dieser dieses dieser
Dative diesem dieser diesem diesen
Possessive adjectives such as: kein (no/not a), mein (my), sein (his/its), ihr (her), unser (our), Ihr (your formal), dein (your), and eurer (your plural) are also the same:
Singular Plural
Masculine Feminine Neuter All Genders
Nominative mein meine mein meine
Accusative meinen meine mein meine
Genitive meines meiner meines meiner
Dative meinem miener meinem meinen

Note: unser and euer drop the e:
unsern or unsren NOT unseren
eures and eurem NOT eueres and euerem

The definite article and words like dieser will be called der words.
The indefinite article and possessive adjectives will be called mein words.
